A Wolf's Tale

A Wolf's Tale by Honey Jans

Gina Sinclair is trying to look after her grandma's best interests, and the family estate, as she fends off attempts to drive her out and send grandma to a rest home. Mitchell Wolf is a creature trying to uphold his clan's blood oath. When Gina's grandmother secretly hires him to protect her granddaughter, he can't believe his luck. Protecting Gina will absolve his clan from a centuries old bond, and the estate is said to hold the key to his survival.

Posing as a mild mannered accountant, he moves into the estate to conduct an inventory, and finds his hands full trying to protect Gina from danger while trying to surreptitiously search for the key. From the moment they meet, Gina is suspicious of him, and at the same time attracted to him. For his part, Mitch doesn't want to want this woman but she fires his senses like a human woman shouldn't. The more time they spend together the hotter it gets. She realizes he's not all he seems. Find out if red riding hood can turn the tables on the big bad wolf by reading A Wolf's Tale.

So, yeah, the cover is beyond retarded. And the author drives me to make funny faces when she does stuff like describing one character as 'five foot twelve'... but overall, it was a very nice story.

Mitch Wolf, aka Mitch Lamb, has been hired by Libby Sinclair to protect her grand-daughter, Gina, who appears to be having one accident after another. Truth is, someone wants her out of the way.

Meanwhile, Mitch has his own interest in the Sinclair estate. It is said, somewhere inside, it the means of which to heal him. To save him from the curse that will force him into his wolf form, and soon after die.

Mitch was nice. Gina was predictable. Michael, Mitch's younger brother, was the typical, amusing little brat of a cub that just made you laugh and love him. The ending though- it had me baffled. What saved Mitch? B&D??

Through The Veil (pt 2)

"Whaddya know… a man looking at me really can rock my world."

Through the Veil... (spoilers)

It is the story of a land at war. In part, it is the story of man's love for a woman. A brother's love for a brother. And a father's love for his daughter.

What can I say? It was good. It was deep. It provoked thought and consideration.

Not quite as climactic as I expected going in though. Not so much as shocking as just.. every life coming together, sorting themselves out, until there was just a little more peace left to the survivors.

When Lee died... when the men had to pull Kalen away from her, grabbing and wrenching at his limbs to keep him back... it was emotional. A lot of questions were answered at the end- just how Lee, aka Lelia, aka Lelena, was able to keep crossing through the Veil those twenty years. How she got to 'our' world. What happened to her parents.

It was fulfilling to have Lee remember the times shared with Kalen as he, too, was growing up.

All the bases covered.

Yays for another book well written!

Even Kalen had a little wolf in him...
He bounced back from the disbelief, to the irrational fury. He swung back around to her and closed the distance between them. Fisting one hand in the soft, silky shirt she wore under her cavinir, he jerked her up onto her toes. "Why did he touch you? What did he want?"

Her soft blue eyes weren't so soft as she glared at him. They blazed like blue flame, and fury flushed her face a delicate pink. She closed her hand around his wrist and tugged in an attempt to dislodge his grip. "I don't know what he wanted. And would you quit acting like you found us rolling naked on the ground?"

Oh, now, that was the completely wrong thing to say. That image exploded in Kalen's mind and he jerked Lee forward. Her soft, strong body crashed into his as he lowered his mouth to hers. "Don't let him touch you again, Lee. You hear me?"

Any answer she might have made, he smothered with his lips. She wouldn't open for him. He angled her chin and squeezed her jaw until her mouth opened. The taste of her hit his system like a lightning bolt, electrifying and breath-stealing. Lee's hands pushed at his shoulders and she twisted in his arms even though her lips clung to his. He lifted her body in his arms and turned, pressing her against the wall. "You can't understand what it does to me, thinking about somebody else touching you," he murmured against her lips. He fisted his hand in the silky strands of her hair and jerked her neck to the side.

"Let go, Kalen." Then she moaned as he raked his teeth down the arch of her neck. Her hands fisted in his shirt and she pulled him closer, arching her hips and pumping against him. She circled her pelvis against his in a mad little shimmy, and those rocking, teasing gyrations had him gritting his teeth.

"Let go?" he repeated. He slid a hand down her side, over her hip, along her thigh, until he could cup her knee and bring it up high. Then he stepped between her thighs and pressed against her. She was wet and hot, he could feel it through the layers of their clothes, and he could smell her hunger in the air, wrapping around him. He could feel her own need in the way she moved against him, the way her hands clung to him even as she tried to push him back. "You don't seem to want me to let go."

"Bastard," she muttered. He nipped her earlobe and then lifted his head, watching as she slammed her head back against the wall and glared at him. Her face was flushed, color riding high on her cheeks, and under the fringe of her lashes, her soft blue eyes glittered hot as flame.

Lee squirmed against him and then brought up her other leg, hooking her ankles together at the small of his back. Kalen snarled as need blistered and burned through him. It was a demanding scream in his brain, and he couldn't think of anything but getting her naked. Didn't she understand she was his?

"I have been waiting for you," he muttered against her mouth. "For years. For this." He tangled a hand in the silky blond tresses and pulled, arching her head back and baring her neck. He scraped his teeth down the smooth white flesh and bit down lightly where neck and shoulder joined. "Just waiting for this. Can you understand that?"

He didn't wait for an answer, just kissed her hard and rough before continuing. "Then you let another man touch you. I don't want another man touching you. Not for anything."

- A 2 Z

For this meme, you list a book you've read that starts with each letter of the alphabet. If you don’t have a book for a letter (such as Z or X) than you can substitute a book that simply has that letter in the title (ex. The Lost City of Z or Hot Six by Janet Evanovich). However, you can only do this a maximum of 3 times. (Z, X, and Q. But not Z, X, Q, and V.) Books can be of any genre from fiction to non-fiction.

A: Alpha and Omega by Patricia Briggs
B: Bad Blood by L A Banks
C: Cast in Shadow by Michelle Sagara
D: Divine Beginnings by P C Cast
E: Embracing the Wolf by Felicity Heaton
F: Fire Opal by Catherine Asaro
G: Guardian's Keep by Lori Devoti
H: Highland Rogue by Tess Mallory
I: Immortal Wolf by Bonnie Vanak
J: Jinx & Her Werewolf by Marisa Chenery
K: King Arthur by Frank Thomson
L: Lord of the Highlands by Veronica Wolff
M: Magic Study by Maria Snyder
N: Nevermore by Maureen Child
O: Outstretched Shadow by Mercedes Lackey
P: Paranormal Payload by Mandy Roth
Q: Quest for Lost Heroes by David Gemell
R: Reyn's Redemption by Beth Cornelison

Through The Veil (pt 1)

Another Shiloh Walker book overwhelming my emotions...

Lee, 28, is plagued by nightmares of battle; of monsters and strangers. Nightmares that leave her bruised and sore when she wakes. But also in the dreams, there is a man. And though she can't recall his face, he gives her comfort and laughter amidst the horror.

In her waking hours, over and over she digitally draws that which she remembers. The man. The land. A world that could have once been beautiful but has been left cold and barren. All the while she hears his voice- 'I'm getting tired of waiting, Lee. We need you.'

On the flip side of the Veil is Kalen Brenner, 31. His world has been infiltrated by demons that are now breeding. He leads a resistance in the battle against them but his once hopeful outlook has been shattered. His people have been reduced to savages.

While Lee's memory of her time with Kalen is naught but vague dreams, Kalen's memory spans a twenty year period. Since the night she passed food to him through the veil when he was a young boy/prisoner. For years she has come into his life sporadically, saving him, fighting with him and his army. When she is with them, she saves lives, gives hope and direction. But when she's gone, they are left to fight alone. And die alone.

And Kalen has had enough. He wants her -all of her- with him, by his side, putting an end to the war.

"What did you do yesterday?" he asked. Damn it, prove me wrong … prove me wrong! It would be so much easier if she was just some elusive witch from the mountains. From anywhere—so long as she lived on this world.
But he already knew the truth.

When she remained silent, he felt something inside him die. "You can't," he answered for her. "Because you don't remember."

Something broke open inside him and he lunged for her, drawing his blade from the sheath at his hip, grabbing her forearm. She shrieked and shoved at him, startled. He could feel the fire of her magick as she pressed her hands against his chest. One hand pressed against the dull sheen on his cavinir jacket that he hadn't zipped up. But the other landed on his chest, just a little off center. Above his heart. The heat of her power burned into his skin.

Gripping her left hand, he wrenched her palm away from his chest. He could smell the scorched stink of burned flesh as he pinned her arm down. Stony-eyed, he used the blade to slice a shallow mark into her arm. His heart bled as he heard her soft gasp of pain. "Explain that… when you wake in the morning. Explain your bruises away, however you will. But explain a knife cut."

Turning away from her, he stormed away. He felt a little sick in his gut for what he had done. He closed his eyes and fought the urge to scream and rail at her. It wouldn't do any good. She hadn't listened to him in all this time.
She wouldn't listen now.

"Leave, Lee. Leave and don't come back. We'll fight this war without you."

And if she kept coming back, he would end up doing something that would destroy them both.

I find in the writing of Shiloh Walker what was lacking for me in Vivian Arends - the ability to put the reader into the place of the character. Not that Arend isn't a great writer. She has talent and I enjoy her stories. But Walker has a gift. Hell, Shiloh Walker doesn't disappoint. I wanted devastation and desperation and HELLO, KALEN. All that and Alpha, too. I was only at the end of the first chapter (see the excerpt above) and my chest was tight, my eyes wet.

Yes, this one's gonna have multiple postings.

Redd(Neena) said...

1. In MIND GAMES, hypochondriac heroine Justine Jones can’t figure out why tortured mastermind Sterling Packard never sets foot outside the Mongolian Delites restaurant. What if you were somehow trapped in a restaurant, what sort of restaurant would you prefer?

Okay, wtf is with these questions.

Answer: I suppose it's best to say something like the Golden Corral or some equvialent with its variety of food. However, I don't like that place. Olive Garden.. but I can only take so much pasta. Outback Steakhouse, but that stuff can be a tad spicy. So, I guess I'd want to get trapped in Hell's Kitchen. The food goes from the simplest sandwich to friggin things I can't pronounce that only take up 10% of the space of the plate and costs ten times the amount of the ordinary steak dinner. Of course, I hope the chefs are trapped with me for the extra amusement... and of course somebody has to cook because I sure as hell can't.

2. What if you won the fancy $100 dinner to a restaurant of your choice, and you could dine with any character from any book, movie, or history. Who would you choose?

Answer: Fuck! Any character.... *deep in thought* Well.. strange as it is, whenever I think about past characters the man who stands out the most would be Valek from Maria Snyder's Study series. The man was hot, lethal, and carved beautiful animals out of wood. Passionate, loyal, and sensitive, too. Soon after reading that book I purchased a three foot statue of a medieval knight. His name became Valek.

3. Choose three characters to dine with for a lively dinner party (you can define lively however you want).

Answer: Lively, you say? Wow I could be so dirty with this. Okay, okay, okay. *Erases the past 16 images that came into my mind* So, I *have* to pick Max and Sasha from L. A. Bank's Crimson moon series. The first time they hooked up was over a bloody steak.. and well, it was hot. I don't know if I can handle watching that in person, but hell..

And that leaves one more chair... Hmm.... hey, can Wall-E come?

Wolf Games

Went into this book with the gnawing question: Who is Maggie? And not until I was twenty percent in did I *finally* figure it out.

Maggie is the sister of Missy.
Missy (Omega) is the mate of Tad.
Tad (Omega) is the brother of Robyn.
Robyn (Alpha)is the mate of Keil.
Keil (Alpha)is the brother of TJ.
And TJ is the focus of the next book.-- which I am so psyched about. That guy is too funny.

Another story of a guy who finds his mate only for her to want nothing to do with him. *sigh*

Well, sort of. But thankfully, this one has a twist. Maggie, sister to the Granite Lakes wolves' Omega female, has, as she explains it, a chemical imbalance that drives her to panic attacks whenever her wolf surfaces.

Ah, sweet chemical imbalances.

Three years I suffered from panic attacks before the great American doctors figured out which one I was lacking. Although mine and Maggie's attacks aren't all that similar. She faints. Me? My brain tells my body to shut down to preserve oxygen and soon all my limbs are tingling, clamped up, and unmovable. My own personal self destruct button.

Anyway-- back to big guy Erik... who I do not remember whatsoever although I know he existed before this. I liked him. I still prefer Keil. And I am stoked to hear TJ's tale.

Erik had too much control for me. Especially when Maggie kissed the random Russian. Erik checked his blood pressure only for everything to be a-okay. There was never any desperation. He never faced devastation. Which, as you know by now, are two necessary components of a guy in my book.

...his cock rose like new bread in an oven.

That was a 'really now?' moment. LoL

Vicious

They called her vicious.
They called her vindictive.
They called her violent, volatile…
But Graeme Lawson, arrogant bastard he was, he had simply called her his…

If there was a better way to wake up, Graeme wasn’t so sure he wanted to know.

Three years ago, Graeme Lawson was killed by the woman he loved. A knife to the back. Since then, he's been in Purgatory.

But now, he's been given a chance at redemption by going back, and giving Vixen, his love and murderer, a chance at salvation. With a different body, shorter and thinner, but the same neon blue eyes, it doesn't take long for Graeme to find her, but he's not prepared for the air of grief that surrounds her.

Vixen is an assassin. She spent her life on the streets as the daughter of a drug addicted mother who finally overdosed and Vixen was left to stealing to survive. That's how she first met Graeme, who loved her the moment he slapped eyes on her.

Graeme is what nearly every woman wants, and what no assassin needs - a guy that can read your every move. In his new existence, it's even worse. Every sense he has is heightened. He can hear her every word. Even some inside her mind. But the powers that be didn't send him back completely uncontrolled. They'll only let him do so much.

I had my hesitations starting out this one. I mean, the guy's already dead, what kind of happy ending are we looking at here? For the first half of the book we're basically reliving their lives and their life together. I must say, the sexy stuff is top notch.

Near the end, I was flabbergasted as I experienced that moment when a slow smile stretches your face and you find yourself mouthing the words 'no way' as everything comes together so beautifully. If you've ever seen even one Saw movie then you know what I mean. All I wanted to do was crawl into a big blanket, wrap myself in its warmth, and sigh. Yes. Hell yes. The book was good.

The very end? I won't spoil it. It's too unexpected. Not all that huge a deal... just unexpected. You won't see it coming. So I hate the cover, have a mild dislike for the title, but absolutely love love love the story.

“Don’t look away,” he whispered. “You gave me this…and I want all of it.”
The pain was just a whisper at first, but as he pressed deep, deeper, it grew, hot and vicious, spreading through her. She cried out and closed her eyes.

His voice cut through the hot wash of pain. “Look at me!”

She did…and she found herself lost in his gaze.

“I want it all,” he repeated. “I want the tears. I want to feel it as your body tries to accept me, accept this…and I want to watch you as it happens. You gave me this—you can’t hold anything back. Not from me.”

“It hurts.” She hated the whimpering, pleading tone of her voice, but she couldn’t stop it. Nor could she look away from him as he forged deeper and deeper, claiming her one slow inch at a time.

“I know it hurts.” He dipped his head and nuzzled her neck. “And bastard that I am, I can’t even say I’m sorry. I’m glad it hurts, glad this is the first time for you…glad I’m the man having this, having you…and damn it, Vixen, I’m keeping you.”

The in-print cover, shared with Talking With the Dead. Much better!

In Heat

Don't fight me.

Kim is just another victim of recurring dreams. A hot guy, whose face she never sees, touches her in ways no man has before. Problem?

Actually, there's a couple. For one, there never seems to be actual intercourse, so she's always left wanting more no matter what happens. Secondly, she's never seen his face. And lastly, and this may not be so much of a problem for you or me as much as it is for Kim, but the guy in her dreams keeps sprouting black fur.

Just another day in Kim's plain, boring life, she goes to work at the law firm that can't seem to take her seriously. There, behold, Erik Blackwell emerges as their newest client. Sexy, black hair, golden eyed, Erik. With the voice that matches her fantasy man.

Cool air bathed him, carrying away some of his tension. He closed his eyes to make most of the feeling. It was such relief after the closeness of the lift. He gave a brief glance at Kim and then paced along the length of the roof. The whole of London was laid out before him, shimmering in the heat. The sun beat down, warming his back as he walked. He didn't know why he'd asked for a place to smoke.

He didn't smoke.

For twenty-seven years, Erik has been dreaming of his mate, the entirety of Kim's life, while resisting all other women as he waited to find her. A panther shifter, this boy is obsessed with the sensual color black, and appears to slip into heaven while basking in the sun. He's a romantic though. No rushing anything sexual here.

With just enough boyishness and desperation that I love in a guy, Erik was wonderful! And the club scene was H.O.T.

Embracing The Wolf

Four years ago, Kat's lover, Amon, made a startling revelation when he told her she was his mate.

With that truth, and the reality now settling in that she did carry the werewolf gene, Kat fled and he's been hunting her ever since. Even sending his packmates after her, only for them to meet their deaths at her hands.

Soon, if Kat does not complete the mating ritual with Amon, he will become feral and dangerous. Then, being a member of the Werewolf Control Forces, she will hunt him. And kill him, too.

Of course... duh... killing him will only ensure she, too, goes crazy.

But who saw the deranged partner angle? Not I.

What's A Ghoul To Do

Can't say much more than the synopsis does...

She's the only mate he wants. But love isn't on the menu.

Fangly, My Dear series

Lilith P. Graves needs to get a life. A social life. This shouldn't be a problem, since she's partnered with her best friend in the "Fangly, My Dear" dating service. Problem is, she keeps falling for the wrong guys, and they don't get more wrong than the super-hot alpha Rafe Graywolf.

With the history of bad blood between her kind and his, the message is clear: Vegetarian demi-ghouls need not apply.

Obeying the call of duty, Rafe took the role of alpha at a rough time for the pack. For the sake of stability, the elders insist he find a mate. Now. A dating service isn't normally his cut of steak, but he has little time-or choice.

But Lilith...now there's a choice morsel he could sink his teeth into. Too bad they're on opposite ends of the ghoul-werewolf social spectrum. Not to mention the food chain...

Lilith is given a strict guideline of what the elders are looking for in a mate for their newly made alpha, Rafe. Too bad, Rafe doesn't want a mate. That is, until he meets Lilith.

Even though she knows, and he knows, that the pack would never accept her as their leader's mate, it doesn't stop them from sharing a night together.

Then Rafe's pack goes into battle against wolves fighting for their territory.

It comes down to Rafe choosing what's more important to him, being alpha, or being with the woman he loves.

Cute moments. Cheesy moments. Times of chuckles and gasps. All in all, good story. *shrugs*

Reyn's Redemption

James Reynolds Erikson, 'Reyn', left his small-town home twenty years ago after the death of his mother and a childhood spent creating a reputation he only regrets. When he's contacted about his grandmother, the only family he has left, being in the hospital, he finally returns to the place that never did feel like home to him.

But even being the hero firefighter that others see him as, Reyn wants nothing to do with the picture his grandmother has painted of him in the eyes of Olivia, the orphaned daughter of the former town sheriff. And the sexy calendar photo he agreed to pose for doesn't help him. Reyn doesn't consider himself as a hero or a fantasy. To himself, he's a coward. One who couldn't save his own mother.

On the note-so-flipped-side of things is Olivia. She, too, has got herself an unwanted reputation though hers may not be so deserved. More like the lashings of a scorned lover she trusted a little too much. When Olivia finds her father's files on the investigation of Reyn's mother's death, she also finds his notes. Suddenly it appears there's more to the story of what transpired all those years ago.

“I can still turn you over my knee for lying, young man.” She lightly touched the covers near her injured hip. “Well, maybe I can’t at the moment, but I’ll have Olivia tan your backside for me.”

Reyn’s gaze darted to Olivia’s, and his slate-gray eyes grew warm. “Promise?”

and, don't you love to hate brutal honesty?

He raised his head and peered into her eyes, seeking confirmation, permission—and receiving both. Holding her gaze, he positioned himself and slowly guided the tip of his erection into her. She stretched to accommodate him, her body tight as he tried to slide deeper. And met resistance.

His body screamed for release, and it took all his strength not to drive himself deep and hard. Gently he tried again, and Olivia winced.

Dear God, he was hurting her. As if she were a—

He froze, icy horror splashing him when the truth penetrated his haze of lust. With tense, jerky movements, he pulled away from her and clambered to his feet. Plowing his hands through his hair, he sucked in a steadying breath.

“You’re a virgin.” His voice was filled with anger and accusation, and she flinched.

“Y-yes.”

He sucked in a deep breath, trying to control the tension wringing his body. Damn it, he still wanted her, even knowing what it would cost him. And cost her.

“Why didn’t you say something?” he growled.

“I… Why does it matter? What difference does it make to you?” She crossed her arms over her breasts, hugging herself, and drew her legs up close to her body. He saw her shiver, despite the scalding sun, and pain squeezed his chest.

“It matters. It just does.” He snatched up his wet underwear, gritting his teeth. His body still throbbed with unfulfilled need, and knowing he could do nothing about it made him madder.

“I don’t understand. If I’m willing to—”

“But I’m not willing.” He continued dressing while Olivia stared at him with wounded eyes. Sucking in a deep breath, he turned to her, trying to organize his thoughts despite the riot of emotions and yearning still battling inside him. “I don’t want to be your first. I don’t want you to have any emotional connection to me.” He sighed and met her querying look with a hard gaze. “A woman’s first time is…special. Something she never forgets. I don’t want to be special to you. It has to be only sex.”

She stared at him silently, her eyes glittering with tears.

He shoved his feet in his shoes and turned toward the woods. The rustle of clothes told him she was finally dressing. He screwed up the nerve to face her again. “Olivia, I’m sorry. This is just how it has to be.”

He waited for her to glance up before continuing. He wanted to make sure she understood what he had to say next. “Don’t fall in love with me. I’m not what you want or need in your life, and I don’t want to hurt you.”

She shook her head. A deep V creased her brow over sad eyes. “Why won’t you let me in? What are you afraid of?”

His heart slammed against his ribs, and he tensed. “I’m not afraid. But you should be.”

Stefan's Mark

Another cover reject.

Sidney's father hunts werewolves, that which Sidney doesn't even believe exist. Until, that is, she finds her father's latest captive chained in her basement. A very cryptic conversation lately, a little mind seduction, a kiss, and a very clear message that she now belongs to him, the man then escapes. He leaves behind only the promise that he will return for her and also, his jacket.

Four years later, Sidney flees her father's prison of a home and escapes with he friend Jaclyn to Mardi Gras. To this day, she still wears the torn jacket given to her by the man that haunts her dreams and hopes.

When Stefan comes to claim her, nothing will stop him. He even drugs her when she refuses to come willingly.

Soon though, he's not the only guy showing up looking for a piece of Sydney. Even Mike, the man who once worked with her father comes calling.

Why does everyone want to fuck Sidney?

Tor: Viking Master

The cover of this one freaks me out, so I ain't posting it.

When Tor comes upon the Saxon woman who killed his brother, he takes her as his slave to make her pay for her crime.

Maida is innocent of the murder Tor accuses her of, but until she can convince him of the truth, she must endure his torment.

When the Viking jarl finally realizes his mistake, he also knows he’s fallen deeply in love with Maida. But if he frees her, how can he keep her?

Okay, that last part, the whole - when he realizes the truth he also realizes he's in love with her - that's crap. He's confronted with the truth fairly early on.. and when his wounds prove to be near fatal, he comes to see Maida's a very sweet-natured, caring woman. He's been alone since the death of his wife not too long ago, and he comes to have a second chance with Maida.

Too quick for comfort. It's pretty much one chapter then a jump ahead 8 months for the finish.

I did like the visit back to old Denmark. I do sometimes miss my Vikings.

The Fury

I may have been spoiled a bit by Laurenston and Denee's awesome writing abilities, cuz everything else seems to pale in comparison. Nonetheless, I did love this book. Dagan is to die for. But what guy that straps daggers to his thigh and a sword to his back, isn't?

And the women were great too! Which is new for me. That Chloe. Holy hell. She's a force. And Riley is just crazy enough to get on my good side. Then there's the main lady, Reese. Who I imagine would be my ideal personality in a female. She wants so badly to fight and protect herself, but she just doesn't have a clue. And infuriating as all get out!

But she does have the most amazing friends. They take her being a descendant of a god like it's any other normal thing. Then, they're flashing daggers and hurling lamps. Again, wow, Chloe. And then, at the club when Rufus started ogling some of the women, Chloe put a leash on him fast.

Anyway..

How about finding out your grandfather is a god? Hell to the yeah!

So many men. Dagan. Rufus. Flame. Abu. (Yes, Abu) Scion. Gideon. Percilous. Joe. Geoffry. And so many hook ups. Chloe nabs Rufus in a blink, laying claws and claim. Then Riley jumps Scion's back, kicking and screaming.

Dagan is one hell of a male. He doesn't take kindly to any male being near Reese. So yeah, he's on the bad side of Abu and Joe from immediate start. Though, granted, Abu and he have been enemies long before this.

It is another one of those.. gotta fuck to save his life kinda books. Which, is always odd to me. It's also one of those... every time she gets angry at him he fucks her. Wow. I make it seem like there's a lot of fucking in this book. There isn't really. A lot of fighting and arguing and a shit load of jealous male aggression.

The one thing that makes me want to scream is that I want book two... NOW!

Red Wolf

Ok, so, yeah... there were way toooooo many words in this book. And you would think, with all those words, the damn thing would make sense. Nope. No such luck.

First of all, the characters think ALL the time. And at least Adam's thoughts evolved. Tory's were the same bloodsucking thing over and over again!

To Catch A Wolf

*inhale*

*exhale*

Book one. To Catch A Wolf. Pages in, and with the aftermath of To Tempt A Wolf still kindling my soul, I had to step back. By gods, this woman can write!!

Five years ago, Braith ended the relationship with the love of his life, Sorcha, because her pack wanted him gone. He grabbed a few things from the surface of their shared dresser and fled, taking, unbeknownst to him, the Masti (an amulet that held the power to control Sorcha's people.)

Now that seems to be a gaping whole in the story as to, other than the fact her father made it, wtf was Sorcha doing with that thing?

Meghi makes her first appearance in this one. And Cadon is mentioned.

When Sorcha shows up in his bedroom, scarred from being beaten, Braith knows he's not about to let his mate go ever again.

Good. Very good. Not as great as the second book though.
The next, which is a WIP at the moment with the author is Meghi's story.

The next book in the series, tentatively titled "To Kill a Wolf", is hers. I have paired her up with a no nonsense half-breed demon Droi named Callious. And she has definitely met her match with this one. I'm not sure which part I enjoy writing more-- the nookie or the dialog. Callious is the brain child of a very close friend. I can only hope that I do him, and the character, their due justice. Back to the grindstone! And as always...

To Tempt A Wolf

BEST FREAK OUT & BEST MATE CLAIMING

An assassination attempt. A second in charge that's falling apart. Curses against gods and shifters alike. What more could you ask for from a first chapter?

Caden is an alpha looking forward to retirement. When a wolf he long ago banished shows up in his bedroom in the middle of the night - and his second in charge proves less than dependable - Caden escapes for a lonesome walk, trying to make sense of it all. He soon finds himself in front of a decade's old bakery and inexplicably drawn to the new owner, Brielle.

First she tries to mace him, then hurls magic at him. It's actually a funny scene. Caden's dramatics definitely earn a chuckle or two. Then, giving into the impulse, Caden kisses Brielle.

I loved this book. I loved the magic. I loved the emotions.

Didn't expect the end. Goes to prove, just because it's happily-ever-after doesn't mean it's perfect. Everybody pays a price in this one.

I pretty much stayed on the fence with Meghi, his best friend/former lover/second in charge. You couldn't hate her for being protective of the pack and her best friend. However, her racism against humans made you want to pound her into the sand.

Poor, gotta-love-him, Cadon. He tries so hard to make things right, but like all men, he doesn't have a clue. And the quotes at the beginning of each chapter are perfectly matched. Some even scare you.

Cadon is my new favorite child of Odin. Hands down.

Mine…she’s mine.

The words hummed along his racing pulse as his hands gripped her hips to hold her immobile in his embrace. He didn’t even pause to wonder at the intensity of his craving for her kiss. Her fingers slipped into his hair with a whimper, pulling him under the magic of her passion.

Magic. Magic. Hello? Magic!

Warning bells jangled in his head. Cadon wrenched back and swiped a hand over his mouth as he stared at her in horror. The look on her face tore at his heart. She was shaking in need, the same as him, but her expression was almost forlorn. Regret colored her scent. It hit him like a hard hot whip, in direct contrast to the soft white flakes that began to fall from the sky. Her trembling fingers rose to her lips as Brielle pressed against the shop door. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.”

Cadon crossed his arms and tucked his hands beneath his elbows in an attempt to keep from grabbing her again. This wasn’t like him, to just up and attack a lady he barely knew. Let alone a human. Her pulse drummed against his senses and echoed a cadence of fear once again.

“It was only a kiss, sugar,” he said, trying to squelch her distress.

“No, it was magic,” she responded. “My magic. It wasn’t real.”

“What?”

“Give me your name.”

“Cadon Sterling.” He frowned. “But what does that have to do with—”

“It was nice to meet you, Cadon Sterling. I’ll unfurl the spell as best I can when I get home.”

He stiffened. “Spell? What kind of spell? What exactly did you do, Brielle?”

“I won’t bother you again, I swear.”

Brielle mumbled another apology and stepped out of the doorway. Cadon froze in the act of reaching for her as their gazes came together and held. The panic that reflected in her eyes turned his blood cold.

“What are you so afraid of?” he demanded. “What did you do?”

“Nothing that can’t be undone.”

“Brielle—”

“I’m so sorry.”

She pushed past him and headed down the street.

“Brielle, wait.”

“Just leave me alone.”

He grabbed her arm in an attempt to stop her. She cursed and pressed the flat of her left palm against his chest. The electric blue of her magic exploded against his skin, knocking him to the ground.

She didn’t pause or turn to look back. Not even when he managed to get to his feet and yell for her to stop. Cadon let her go, confused as all hell. Tonight was one for the record books. One damn mystery after another. His body ached from her blow, and he had an overwhelming urge to find her and demand some answers, but he shoved the feeling away.

As the minutes ticked by, he worked through the magic that lingered over his heart and walled it off from his soul. Her touch was different, and though he couldn’t say why, he felt her absence like a nagging wound, deeper than any paltry mark of Sabon’s blade.
