Lar has existed as a cat for a thousand years, with all the discomforts and indignities that go along with it. But when he is adopted by Belinda and gets a look into her life, can his curse finally be coming to an end?

Everything about this story I loved. Except the end.

Lar is on the verge of death when a witch rescues him, albeit for very selfish reasons. She wants pleasure, and he's meant to give it to her. When Lar refuses, she turns him into a housecat, cursed to endure the form for, unbeknownst to him, a thousand years.

He survives, eventually making it the New World where time passes and he becomes acquainted with such things as Playboy and that awful, dreadful hour of The View. I lol'ed. Meanwhile, Belinda's relationship with her boyfriend is a major failure so she adopts a cat to escape the loneliness of nights when he's out of town working.

It's cute. It's short. It fits the bill. All it needed was a more convincing ending. 3 out of 5 stars.

I read a short short like this, sorta called the Purrfect Man by Mary Winters. A witch didn't save him though. The witch cursed him. A woman with an allergy to cats saved him. It was weird at points and grossed me out a tad. *grins*

Glad you enjoyed this one. =)

No grossing out here.

Would have liked explanation of how a neutered cat became a fully intact man though.

Hehe! Sounds like some wacky plotline to a Japanese manga! Might give it a try. Curiosity killed the cat, y'know.
