Burning Dawn (Angels of the Dark #3)

"I want to give her more."

Burning Dawn

Angels of the Dark, book three
ebook, 432 pages
Published April 29th 2014 by MIRA
ISBN 9781488709562

A tormented past has left Thane with an insatiable need for violence, making him the most dangerous assassin in the skies. He lives by a single code: no mercy. And as he unleashes his fury on his most recent captor, he learns no battle could have prepared him for the slave he rescues from his enemy’s clutches — a beauty who stokes the fires of his darkest desires.

Elin Vale has her own deep-rooted scars, and her attraction to the exquisite warrior who freed her challenges her every boundary. But Thane’s unwavering determination to protect her means she must face her greatest fears — and enter a world in which passion is power, and victory means breathtaking surrender.

I'm definitely enjoying the Angels of the Dark much more than I am the Lords of the Darkness. And this, Thane's story, just might be my favorite of the Angels.

When we first met Thane back in book one, he was the epitome of a cold-hearted bastard and it's almost traumatizing to see him fall so far as he becomes a mindless sex slave to Kendra, a twisted Phoenix who used her poisons (and sex) to bind him to her. At this point not even even his beloved friends, Xerxes and Bjorn, can save him. It eventually falls to Elin, fellow slave and human/Phoenix half-breed, to set him free.

And soon enough, Thane goes from a sadistic/masochistic bed-her-and-forget-her jackass to a besotted romantic, living for Elin's happiness.

He headed into town to buy chocolates and romance novels. Several hours ticked past as he selected the very best of both. A man devoted time to what mattered to him- to what he deemed worthy of his attention.
When he finished, he tracked down Merrick.
A man guarded what mattered to him.

Too bad when he finally gets the chance to prove his faith in Elin, Thane's devastating failure shakes them both and their budding relationship to the core. With Elin's qualms about being unfaithful to her dead husband's memory, she finds even more of a drive to cut ties with the Sent One when he, upon discovering her mixed heritage, shuns her, abandoning her to what would have been her Phoenix masters had Xerxes not intervened. In the end, she ended up at the mercy of demons. Luckily, it took just hours for Thane to come to his senses and he has the chance to play Hero once more.

Had the ending not felt rushed as it did, this was definitely five star material.

Star Cruise: Marooned (A Sectors SF Romance

Us together, anywhere you want to be.

Star Cruise: Marooned
Veronica Scott
Kindle Edition, 140 pages
Published June 18th 2015 by Jean D Walker
ASIN B00ZZ0OCBS

Meg Antille works long hours on the charter cruise ship Far Horizon so she can send credits home to her family. Working hard to earn a promotion to a better post (and better pay), Meg has no time for romance.

Former Special Forces soldier Red Thomsill only took the berth on the Far Horizon in hopes of getting to know Meg better, but so far she’s kept him at a polite distance. A scheduled stopover on the idyllic beach of a nature preserve planet may be his last chance to impress the girl.

But when one of the passengers is attacked by a wild animal it becomes clear that conditions on the lushly forested Dantaralon aren’t as advertised – the ranger station is deserted, the defensive perimeter is down…and then the Far Horizon’s shuttle abruptly leaves without any of them.

Marooned on the dangerous outback world, romance is the least of their concerns, and yet Meg and Red cannot help being drawn to each other once they see how well they work together. But can they survive long enough to see their romance through? Or will the wild alien planet defeat them, ending their romance and their lives before anything can really begin?

This one had a rough start for me, but once it really started going (that is, when people started dying), I was totally engrossed by the story and the main characters, Simon (aka Red) and Meg.

Years ago, Red, while on task with his team, experienced a prophetic moment that forewarned him that he would have but one chance at love. After a mission goes awry and Red finds himself retired from the military he moves on to find security work on a high end galactic cruise line, but gets sidelined when he meets Meg, and suddenly his course of action takes a dramatic shift to a mediocre vessel.

Too bad the woman he's chasing isn't of mind to be caught.

As Red tries, and tries and tries, to make a good impression on the rule driven Meg, there seems to be no hope for the one chance he was destined for. Until the war raging light years away ends up on their beach and they're left marooned with no hope of a rescue.

With the responsibility of their clients' lives weighing on their shoulders, not to mention their own being on the line, Red and Meg come together to survive storms, wildlife, and dumb but deadly pirates.

There doesn't seem to be an official order to this series, but if the rest are anything like Marooned then I may have to start accumulating the collection.

"Would you rather I throw you on the bed

Two hundred years ago Kendrick Ashwood had a premonition that showed him the gruesome image of his baby brother being killed in the line of duty while serving with the Alpha Unit. When centuries go by and Keelan is still alive and well, he begins to relax. He believes that his prayers sent to the Gods to make him wrong this one time have been answered.

As Kendrick feels his godsdaughter’s magic flare out of control he immediately merges with her in an attempt to rein it in. That is when he learns of the tragedy that has taken his only family away from him.

Using every resource at his disposal he immediately heads for Lycaonia to find out for himself who would be suicidal enough to harm his brother. What he finds shocks him to his core.

Anne Bennett gets a phone call that changes her life. Her new best friend Keelan has been hurt and his commander is asking her to move in to help take care of him. Her heart breaks when she hears from his family that the dreams she has been having of them together were shared by Keelan and that he was meant to be her mate.

Upon meeting Kendrick, her entire world is shaken. His more mature appearance and perpetual frown makes him look more like the man from her dreams than Keelan ever did. When she can no longer fight her attraction for him she confesses her feelings only to have them rebuffed. Kendrick is adamant that he would never steal his brother’s mate. But Anne is almost positive that she was never Keelan’s mate to begin with.

As the Alpha Unit races to find the enemies who have stolen Keelan’s soul and covered Lycaonia in black magic, Kendrick begins to uncover dreadful truth behind the necklaces. When turning to Anne feels more natural than it should, Kendrick faces the fact that Anne truly is his mate.

As the paranormal world teeters on the brink of chaos, he finds himself protecting not his brother’s mate, but his own.

Back in book three, Keelan began dreaming of the woman he believed was his mate, as one by one the others of the Alpha Unit have begun to do. And he found the girl he dreamed of, working at one of the local markets. The problem, subsequently confessed in book four? He's not attracted to her. Finally, in book five, we discover why.

: SPOILERS :

Keelan is a witch, and has mistakenly confused mate dreaming with dream state premonitions enabling him to protect not his mate, but his brother, Kendrick's.

All of the women of B&B, have had their own quirky obsessions: computer coding and video games, clothing and the office-stealing closet to hoard it, make-up galore... and now, Anne brings us anime! Without the Dr. Who fanatic angle. Double yays!

Hands down, Kendrick is my favorite of all the guys so far. The guy carries a full library in his pocket (er, pouch) and is all but a hermit as he doesn't play well with others. Open-minded. Open-hearted. As Meryn said, the guy is fucking awesome! And sums up my view of the world as is quite nicely:

"My heart hurts, Sei. I fear for our future. I don't know if I want to live in this world anymore. I am so tired..."

With the tension of Kendrick expecting to gain himself a sister and finding his mate instead, my mind was all over the place with the many ways this story could have played out. And Alder does not disappoint in the least.

As Kendrick and Anne bond over their relationships with Keelan, a love of Japanese culture, and a progressing addiction to anime, currently focused on the boy love premise, the two begin their mating as friends with the cloud of their erotic dream sharing and ever distracting attraction to one another only mildly agitating the natural fall into love.

They comfort one another. They protect one another. And they don't shy away from their feelings. Eventually they confess their feelings and confirm that Anne is definitely not Keelan's mate.

Then, ohhhhh then...

Then everything gets all convoluted when it comes out that Kendrick is actually Julian, the long lost son of a once hunted king, and is the elder sibling to twin brothers, Keelan and Kendrick. The latter of which died as a babe. He's fucking awesome, and a prince! It comes out that Amelia's parents, in truth, weren't off gallivanting across the maps as hippies but on a secret quest in search of their lost king. Whom is now dead, his body lying in a grave dug by his own son, and resting beside his wife and deceased child.

The ferals' plot is unmasked further in this installment as it becomes divulged that Kendrick's parents were the first victims of this evil crusade. After three hundred years, you'd think that whoever is behind this would have achieved his goal by now, right?

4 out of 5 stars.

Book six, My Guardian, is due out sometime next year.

Bronwyn has always wanted a child, but she cannot bear the idea of sentencing a child to a life on the dying Earth. Instead, she uses her extra coin to help her brother and his family. But she can't help entering the lottery, in the hope she can fulfil her dream of having her own child one day on the planet Karal.

However, when she does win the lottery, she has another decision to make. Win the trials and become the first human female to go into deep space, or live safely on Karal.

She hopes if she discovers a new planet, she might be able to secure a place for her brother and his family there. That is the only reason she tries her best, it has nothing to do with not wanting to lose to Lucile, a pent from Earth. Or her attraction to the huge, well muscled Karalian who will be her companion on the mission.

Quin is the pilot of the first deep space mission, he would rather go alone than with a female. But he has no choice, he must fulfil his duties and breed before his prime ends. To make sure his son is strong and intelligent, he is willing to put his own preferences aside and take the winner of the trials.

But the more he sees of Bronwyn, the more he wants to put aside his best judgement. Even if it means putting the mission in at risk, because he knows she makes him feel things that might influence his actions.

And that could be bad news for them both, and the whole of the human race.

Contains strong sexual themes and is meant for adults only.

Arrested for the murder of thirty members of the High Council of the planet Carnelia, Sienna McCade could face a hundred years in cryogenic suspension, the maximum punishment allowable by Galactic law. Jordan Dane is the Courier assigned to transport Sienna’s cryo-stasis tube to a prison ship, where she will remain until her trial.

When his ship crashes and Jordan is injured, he finds himself at the mercy of the beautiful assassin who has managed to escape from the broken stasis tube. He knows he owes her a debt of gratitude for saving his life, but he can’t ignore his mission. Should he deny his growing feelings for her and turn her over to the authorities, or risk everything to help her prove her innocence and spare her a hundred years in cryo sleep?

This book has been on my TBR since 2011, and was actually a gift from The Unbrkyn Wyld. Look, Redd, I finally got around to reading it!

Jordan Dane is a courier for the Protecorate, a middle man between the bounty hunter and the courts, trusted with what would be considered dangerous cargo if such felons were able to be awake for the ride.

His most recent package is Sienna McCade, charged with the murders of the High Council of Carnelia. Currently in cryogenic sleep, awaiting delivery for her trial, Sienna is oblivious to her circumstances, and that of the perilous trip she's about to be dragged into.

When Jordan's ship takes on a pirate attack, he's left spiraling towards a moon inhabited by an anti-tech tribe. Crash landing, Jordan's left unconscious and slowly bleeding to death. Luckily, or not, Sienna's chamber happened to malfunction during the ride. If not for the damage the ship took on during the attack, she would have suffocated to death. Alas, the chamber took on a blow that forced it to release its captive and Sienna emerged from her prison in time to care for her wounded jailer.

When Jordan awakens, he's left not only shocked to still have Sienna there with him (instead of her hightailing it to freedom) but equally mystified by the amount of care she has for his well being. She tends his wounds, feeds him, and shows absolutely no desire to flee his presence.

Jordan and Sienna are two characters who are perfect for and to each other. With a well lain respect and blossoming yet fragile trust at the forefront of their meeting, the two bond on mild bickering and acceptance of the other's plight. Sienna knows her claim of innocence matters nothing to Jordan's duty to deliver her to justice, and she doesn't actively try to sway him otherwise. Mostly because her growing amnesia keeps her from offering any valid argument that would support his dereliction.

Meanwhile, Jordan finds himself fighting to remember she's a prisoner, set to be tried for thirty counts of murder, while constantly finding appreciation for not only her beauty but her intelligence, playfulness, and sympathetic regard. When he ultimately decides to ally himself in her quest for the truth that will set her free, it's a choice made without coercion on her part. She deserves his help, and he cares enough to give it.

He placed her palm over his heart and held it there above the rhythmic drum beat. "That's you," he told her as he kissed her forehead. "That's you."

This book is for any romantic thrilled at the experience of two good people falling effortlessly in love.

4.5 out of 5 stars.

Years ago, family loyalty caused Fain Hauk to give up everything he loved: His military career. His planet. His fiancée. Even his name.

Now decades later, everything has changed. He's built a new life out of the ashes of his old, and he's vowed to never let anything threaten his loved ones again.

But when old enemies align themselves with new ones, he's caught in the middle of a brutal war. And when fate throws his former fiancée back into his world and she has her own agenda that includes taking his head for what he did to her years ago, more than just his life is at stake. The fate of the Ichidian universe and that of his brothers-in-arms hangs in the balance. Winner take all.

It's kill or be killed, and never has the battle been more fierce.

Fain has long been overshadowed by the assumption that he was disinherited by his family for daring to love a human, and eventually marrying her. Well, like many other matters when it comes to the Sentella, appearances can be misleading. The truth is out: Darling Cruel wasn't gay and Fain Hauk never loved a human. But Fain did screw up. And he screwed up badly.

Years ago, Fain was promised in marriage to a young female named Galene. They were sweethearts, completely enamored with one another. And despite the hell Fain endured at home with his parents and elder brother, Fain lived for his Storm Dancer. For her, and his younger brother, Dancer. Unofortunately, as we now uncover in this installment to the Nemesis Rising Saga, a moment came where Fain had to choose between keeping his female, or losing his brother. With a heavy heart, and hope, Fain allowed Galene to believe himself to be a cheating bastard. And on the night of their graduation, she not only cursed his very existence and shamed him before their people, as he was very much doing to her in the breaking of their betrothal, but she disappeared from his life, taking his unborn child with her without ever even confessing the babe's existence.

Having her heart brutally broken, Galene fled the shame of Fain's infidelity and her family's abandonment of her, and was forced to raise her son alone. A son that would be deemed the bastard offspring of an Outcast, hated and spurned for most of his life. Much of Talyn's story was told in the previous book, Born of Defiance. While it wasn't a necessary read at the time, as it is a prequel to book one of this series, I have a much higher respect for it now that I've read Born of Betrayal. Don't skip it! This author, if you haven't figured it out yet, knows what she's doing.

Unfortunately for Galene, fate, and Nykyrian's generous promotion, has led her right back into Fain's life when the two are partnered to command a number of military forces in the Alliance.I just love it when a woman's first reaction to a man is to shoot him, and she actually does it! Right there, I was missing Shahara and Syn all over again. When will those two get out of my head?!

I think everyone had a part to play in this book. Every single one of them came out from under their rocks in one form or another. And so many more were added to the roster that my head was nearly spinning. My heart hurt for Fain so many times. For him and Talyn. For him and Galene. And oh... my.. when he had to go to his friends, Nykyrian, Syn, Caillen, and Maris, with news that an attack had leveled the Andarian palace, murdering their wives and children.. I was aghast. If not for Nykyrian and Syn managing to keep it together, I would have been in tears. And I, like any reader/Leage-fan already knew everyone was still alive. Now, who was responsible for getting them out in time, that I did not see coming.

Why are all the bastard villains suddenly becoming redeemable assholes?!

Is everyone in this gods damned galaxy simply a victim of being misunderstood? Kyr won't harm a child? Jullien has a family? And now, Psycho Bunny got hitched?! And and AND... Hadrian and Nero have a long lost brother named Trajen. Whaaaaat? There's actually someone cooler than Nero?

Am I the only one who has the urge to find hard liquor after reading a Sentella adventure? It's such an exhausting roller-coaster and yet it wraps around such deep lessons in acceptance and understanding. Love and loyalty. Survival and endurance. Friendship and family.

It's just so damn good for the soul.

Releasing Rage (Cyborg Sizzle #1)

Releasing Rage

Cyborg Sizzle, book one
Kindle Edition, 191 pages
Published August 19th 2015

Half Man. Half Machine. All Hers.

Rage, the Humanoid Alliance's most primitive cyborg, has two goals--kill all of the humans on his battle station and escape to the Homeland. The warrior has seen the darkness in others and in himself. He believes that's all he's been programmed to experience.

Until he meets Joan.

Joan, the battle station's first female engineer, has one goal--survive long enough to help the big sexy cyborg plotting to kill her. Rage might not trust her but he wants her. She sees the passion in his eyes, the caring in his battle-worn hands, the gruff emotion in his voice.

When Joan survives the unthinkable, Rage's priorities are tested. Is there enough room in this cyborg's heart for both love and revenge?

Releasing Rage is Book 1 in the Cyborg Sizzle series and is a STANDALONE story.
It is also a dark BBW Cyborg SciFi Romance.

This, ...this was a damn good read.

But, oh my, is it ever dark and dirty. And not in the way just anyone could enjoy. Take heart, as this book takes someone special, and perhaps a wee bit perverted, to really treasure. If you're into cyborgs, great, but if you're *not* into a very intense D/s situation then stay the hell away.

Joan has been alone since, as a young girl, her family was slaughtered during an attack. She, fortunately, managed to be saved by a cyborg who broke protocol to ensure her safety. Ever since that dreadful day, Joan has possessed an overly romanticized perception of the entire race because of the actions of that one being.

Employed as a cyborg engineer, a position society dictates to be held by males, Joan has become accustomed to being sneered at, hated, and even abused by her colleagues. She manages to take it in stride and survive both their verbal and physical attacks while her submissive nature carries her on. It is that same subservient virtue that allows her to comfortably yield to the murderous cyborg, C899321. Known to other cyborgs as Rage.

Having recently, and I do mean *recently* viciously taken the life of his former engineer, Rage balks at the female entering his domicile. Designed specifically to kill and breed, he suspects the humans have sent Joan to fuck him. Adamantly, he tells her he'd sooner kill her than allow her to touch him.

As she submits to him, stripping herself of her clothing and ceaselessly referring to him as "Sir", Rage eventually allows himself to be tended by her. As time passes and he begins to see and accept the care she possesses for him, Rage begins to take on a very dangerous possessiveness towards Joan. She is now his female.

And with the humans plotting to decommission and torture what remains of her cyborg for scientific research, Joan sends Rage away to escape. Without knowing Rage has every intention of returning for her with his fellow rogue cyborgs, she puts herself into a situation that leaves her violated and very much near death.

I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did, especially with the number of less than favorable reviews I foolishly skimmed before beginning it. But aside from the sheer madness of Joan's willingness to be dominated and the level of stupidity she manages to descend into near the end of the book, (seriously, how did she not know she was pregnant!), it was some kind of awesome.

Book two, Breathing Vapor, is due out on the seventeenth of this month. Happy Birthday to me!

Warlock Unbound (Heart's Desire #4)

Warlock Unbound

Heart's Desire, book four
ebook
Published September 1st 2015 by Samhain Publishing
ISBN 1619231204

The last Beckett brother is going down.

If he had a choice, Daniel Beckett would wait to cast the Beckett family mating spell until his life is more settled. But his brothers, worried he’s losing himself to his wolf, aren’t giving it to him.

Daniel doesn’t need a spell to know Kerry Andrews is his mate. With the last of the Godwin warlocks still on the loose, Daniel crosses his fingers that the willful, stubborn, beautiful woman will allow him to protect her.

Kerry is tempted to make Daniel wait, like he’s made her wait for so long. But the decision is taken out of her hands when things start going horribly wrong. A sleeper hex is activated, putting her life in danger—and the only safe place to run is Daniel’s waiting arms.

Once there, Kerry finds a whole new world to explore with her magical mate. But Arthur Godwin is plotting to rip away their newfound happiness. Women who look like Kerry are turning up dead…and it’s only a matter of time before the killer’s weapon hits its intended prey.

Warning: This title contains explicit sex, graphic language, a growly wizard and the woman who loves him.

I read book one, Shadow of the Wolf, of this series way back in February of 2010. I will say that it was easily the best of the series and although Heart's Desire ended well, I'm left disappointed. Chris and Lana started it all, and yet they are the most removed of all the couples in Warlock Unbound. This can be easily explained as, after all, they're not the focus of the book, but somehow Jo and Zachary got more page time than they did. And after their sequel, I was hoping for far less of Zach and Jo.

Garrett and Genevieve, as the reigning royal couple, appear casually throughout and their presence adds a necessary touch to the story. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of Jo and Zachary.

Meanwhile, the protagonists Kerry and Daniel remain at the heart of the book and keep everyone together while basically removing themselves whenever, and where ever possible, to consummate their bond. Over and over.

Amelia has dreamt of her mate since she was a little girl. All her life visions of a golden prince have warmed her heart and promised a fairy-tale future. She longs for the day when they will finally be together.

When the fateful day arrives and she meets Darian for the first time, she is nearly destroyed by his unequivocal rejection. His continued denial of their destined relationship has her doubting her own self worth and the visions she has had all her life.

Darian is teetering on the edge. He refuses to acknowledge Amelia as his mate and shadows continue to spread across his heart. He has grown used to the emptiness in his soul and almost fears the barrage of emotions she elicits. When an unexpected tragedy sends Darian spiraling into a hopeless abyss, will Amelia have the strength to pull him out, or will she succumb to her own darkness?

Amelia found her mate when she was six years old and spent the next three decades waiting for the moment they'd begin their life together. Unfortunately, her prince, Darian, a Fae serving in the Alpha Unit, has spent those same thirty years believing he was turning feral. When they finally again find each other, Darian is convinced it's far too late for him and chooses to deny their bond and send her away.

But Amelia, deemed Bubbles by Meryn herself, isn't about to give up that easily.

Darian goes through the stages rather quickly. From 1) You're not my mate, to 2) You are my mate, but you don't belong here, to 3) You're mine, I'm yours, and I'll give you whatever time I have left. The irony, whether humorous or not, is that to save himself, Darian need only to go home and let mommy make it all better. It was a cute addition to the series, although all I truly took away from it was a well placed curiosity towards Kendrick.

Fire and Ice (The League #4)

What the hell are you doing?

Fire & Ice
Sherrilyn Kenyon
The League, book four
ebook, 100 pages
Published 1998
ISBN 80759584419

FIRE & ICE - Originally published in a stand alone ebook in 1998. Currently available in the IN OTHER WORLDS anthology that features all the short stories Sherri wrote for Penguin.

Livia is a Vistan princess who is to be married to an ambassador from a neighboring galaxy--a brutal man, many years her senior. She knows that the one thing he values in her is her virginity, and in a last-ditch effort to escape the fate her father has decreed for her, she sets out to seduce the first man she can find.

Adron Quiakides was once a fierce League assassin. Now he lives in constant pain from wounds suffered years earlier at the hands of a madman. When Livia approaches him in a darkened bar, he willingly falls for her seduction. But when he feels the warmth of her healing touch he knows that he can't let her go. With her in his arms, he is free of pain, both body and soul.

With less than two weeks away from the release of book ten in the League series, Born of Betrayal, it was a fitting time to catch up on the only remaining installment to this series I had yet to read. Of course, although this has been titled book four, it is part of the second generation. It is Adron's story; Adron being the first born son of Nykyrian who was the protagonist of book one and leader of the Sentella.

Nykyrian has some truly amazing kids: Thia, Adron, Jayce, twin sons Tiernan and Taryn, and youngest daughter, Zarina. Very much unlike Syn's son, and lone child, Devyn, who managed to disappoint me on a level I don't even want to talk about. They were first introduced in book three, the only other sequel to feature the second generation of the Sentella, and I'm beyond anxious to get back there, mostly for the sake of Nyk's daughter, Zarina, who is the love interest for Darling's son, Cezar. Not to forget Dancer's daughter, Kalea, being paired with Nyk's son, Jayce. Unfortunately, my own three year old son may be a functioning adult by the time those books make it to publisher. Say it won't be so!

Adron, once  a League assassin and forever a serious badass, has suffered for eight long years with the consequences of a noble, selfless act that saved a woman and her unborn child. Now, forced to live in pain, dependent upon a cane and constant medical care to keep his organs functioning, he just wants one thing on the night of the anniversary that changed his world forever: to drink. To drown the memories.

Livia has one goal in mind when she enters the Golden Crona: to do away with the one thing that makes her valuable to the man her father is forcing her to marry- her virginity. Unfortunately, she barely manages to scan the surface of potential bedmates before her guards barge in behind her and she's forced to throw herself into the first acceptable booth to hide.

Adron is, at first, pissed at her sudden appearance at his table only to to follow it up with being pissed at the innocence she dares to have in this corrupted world. A number of women have attempted to court Adron to their bed, only to be quickly and rudely shunned. But when Livia, in a drastic move to escape discovery throws herself beside him with the most chaste kiss he could have ever imagined, well, he's got just enough Tondarian fire in him to finally allow himself the comfort of a woman's touch. After eight long celibate years.

And in that one moment of surrender, Adron finds that this misplaced innocent creature blocks out the agony of his existence. So he takes her home where the little miracle worker makes the huge blunder of telling Adron how wonderful he feels. And then he knows, because he's not that drunk, that she's a virgin. The realization stops him cold and Adron goes for a drink. Only to have her come at him with a hug.

I'm going to stop there before I recap the entire book because, yes, it's that damn good. And Adron is that damn awesome. Even when he's a whiny, self-loathing ass of a man. Meanwhile, Livia is a girl without flaws. She was absolutely perfect and embodied everything Adron needed to be reacquainted with the world, his family, and the man he used to be.

Also making an appearance are Nykyrian, Kiara, Zarina, Tiernan, Taryn, Jayce, and, in vids, Devyn himself.

5 out of 5 stars.

The League books, starting with book one and even more notable with book two, were the first books I'd ever read that actually changed my perspective of the world, people, and just life in general. I encourage any lover of Sci-Fi Romance to experience the unparalleled Sentella.

Rogue's Destiny (Ozera Wars #1)

It was better than she'd imagined, this thing called a kiss, and she wanted more...

Hana is the second daughter of the House of Moons, sister to the Queen, and revered scholar of Anthea. Everything she believes about her people, and about herself, is a lie.

Kiel Lonriev, Prince of Melos, left his home on a rescue mission. Captured by powerful Anthean elders, he knows death is preferable to the torture ahead.

Only she can save him...
Only he can show her the truth...
Their forbidden union will violently alter the course of their planet's future.

I added this to my TBR/Lending Library shelf, only to have it, and the rest of the series, disappear from availability altogether. When it finally reappeared for both lending and purchase (for 99¢), I grabbed it. Though I'm still waiting on books two through four to resurface.

Kiel Lonriev, one of the youngest of the king's many bastard children, finds himself a reluctant prisoner to the women of Anthea after going in search of his sister, Kamara, who was abducted and seemingly lost to the galactic slave trade. His people and that of those of Anthea have long been enemies, ever since the woman of Anthea, once slaves themselves under the reign of Kiel's ancestor, rose up and fled their masters, uniting and eventually creating their own government. The woman thrived. And their technology became formidable. Now, the descendants of those women inflict their own kind of control, bartering tech for a male's seed and utilizing a synthesized drug called Ozera to ensure those men can't, or won't, fight them during a tradition that has been declared a Seeding Ceremony. The very ceremony that Kiel has now become a drugged and chained participant in.

Hana is the sister of the current reigning queen, present at the Seeding Ceremony as a priestess there to give her blessing to those women seeking to conceive, and earn favor for her sister at the same time. Despite not partaking of the drug that would awaken her body to the pleasure of the feel of a male, she can't help being drawn to the man that fights the bindings that he shouldn't even be wearing. The man that telepathically cries out to her in her mind.

This is a story of a mate claiming between a man desperate to keep his people from war and a woman who has been kept blind by her own trusted elders of their crimes of fueling the very slavery they themselves descend from. His is a people of magic. Hers, of technology. It truly has an amazing potential for a great story, if there was another hundred pages or so to break up the rush of imprisonment, escape, bonding, and then Kiel's mildly selfish choice to set her free rather than aid her desire to free her loved ones from the corruption ruling them. What there is, however, feels crammed and, much to my disappointment, such fails to do justice to the premise.

It is, on a positive note, very erotic.

My Healer (Bewitched and Bewildered #3)

"That's it... We're going to mother fucking Disney World!"

My Healer
Alanea Alder
Bewitched and Bewildered, book three
ebook, 236 pages
Published February 24th 2015 by Sacred Forest Publishing
ISBN 9781941315040

Fun loving wolf-shifter Colton Albright’s usual concern…his next meal, has been replaced by haunted dreams. The nightly visions of the sad, anxious face of his mate have this jovial jokester withdrawing from his fellow Alpha Unit members.

Rheia Bradley is a dedicated professional that lives to help others, but has long forgotten how to help herself. When she arrives in Lycaonia seeking the protection of the warrior units, Colton is ecstatic to discover that she’s his mate. His relief is quickly eclipsed by one small problem, a tiny, solemn four-year-old girl who happens to be his mate’s adopted daughter. Which means… he is now a father!

While Rheia settles into her new job, Colton and all his fellow warriors are about to get a crash course on little girls. The men quickly learn that not one ounce of their centuries-long training has prepared any them for this precocious child.

When Rheia uncovers something about their enemy that puts her name next to her daughter’s on their hit list, Colton is willing to do anything to keep his new family safe. But will it be enough?

I L.O.V.E.D. the beginning of this story! The first moments of Rheia and Colton's meeting... sheer fun bitchiness. The minute they realized what they were to eachother... just awwwww. And the way Colton reacted to discovering his new daughter, Penny... yeah, I melted.

Colton has always been the fun one in this series. And even though he has to man up and be a mate and a father, he manages to hold on to that goofy attitude throughout. I must add that this installment has the most to offer when it comes to the intentions of the ferals. Finally, we're given a theory as to what their goal is, and how they're managing to accomplish it. A long awaited kudos there.

And of course, Meryn (now pregnant) is just a cray-cray as ever.

"Let me stab him. Just once!" Meryn yelled. "Just four tiny holes!"

Now who wants a sandwich, complete with beef jerky, peanut butter, mayonnaise, cheese, and a pickle?
