Waiting On Wednesday: Spellweaver

A weekly meme, hosted by Breaking the Spine,
spotlighting upcoming releases that are eagerly anticipated.

Spellweaver
(book two of Ruith's story)
Novel of the Nine Kingdoms, book five
Paperback, 368 pages
Coming January 4th 2011 from Berkley Publishing Group
ISBN 0425238636 (ISBN13: 9780425238639)

Ruith had long managed to ignore the magic in his veins, until aiding Sarah with her ill-fated quest forced him into places where his heritage was impossible to deny. Faced with an ever-increasing number of enemies who covet his power, Ruith must accept his birthright and gather his father’s spells together so he can destroy them—or turn away and allow his father’s evil to overcome the Nine Kingdoms.

Now, Ruith and Sarah must rely on each other more than ever—for everything they value is at risk: the Nine Kingdoms, their lives...and their hearts.

First began reading the novels of the Nine Kingdoms way back when I was reading strictly fantasy. Before I was corrupted by lusty shifters and sexy as hell men with guns and a need for vengeance.

Previously, in book one, per my review (spoilers):

Ruithneadh lives alone in the mountains outside the village, his magic forced deep down inside himself, locked and hidden away. After the destruction of his family by his own father's hands when he himself was just ten years old, Ruith wants nothing to do with magic or people.

Sarah is the magicless daughter of the village witch. She wants nothing more than to escape her home and run away to make her own simple, peaceful life. Then one day her brother steals away the last of her mother's potions and her entire savings. He then reveals that he is off to destroy the world.

Led by duty to do just the opposite, Sarah runs to Ruith for help, believing in the rumors that he is a centuries old mage more powerful than most out there. What she finds is a man much younger, cloaked in darkness, and who's so handsome she doesn't even recognize him when she finally sees his face.

As they journey together, collecting person after person whom her brother, Daniel, has stolen their powers from, they continue to hide their secrets from one another - all along building a bond and friendship with what truths are allowed. In the end of Tapestry of Spells, all lies come to the surface and as they flee, yet another foe takes them captive. Sarah is planned to be sold. Ruith is confined.

The first three are set in the same world and tell the story of Ruith's sister, Morgan, but they have no other connection to Ruith and Sarah: (Linked to Amazon)

The Legend of Michael
Zodius, book one
Sourcebooks Casablanca (May 2011)
ISBN-10: 1402251564
ISBN-13: 9781402251566

The world will never be the same after a top secret government projects creates super soldiers with alien DNA injections and those soldiers divide between good and evil.

The Hero: Michael

He is sin and satisfaction, lust and damnation, a lethal weapon created from the greed of man. A human soldier injected with alien DNA, he is one of many, yet none are like him, a legend within this new race, split between good and evil. Untamable, he has walked on the dark side, returned to the light, but it matters not, for he is feared, misunderstood—lethal in all ways possible. Women desire him, lust for the mysterious warrior, hungry for the raw passion that touches his every breath. Men envy his stature, his power; they lust to control him. But there is no controlling a creature such as he, no taming the primal fires within him. He is the past, he is the future.

He is Michael.

I beyond loved the Knights of White series by Lisa Renee Jones. It was actually the first series I bought when I received my Kindle 2. But sadly, that's all I've ever read from LRJ so I'm looking forward to her new series that is set to start it's release in May of 2011. Information on the rest of that series can be found on the author's website.

Waiting On Wednesday: My Demon Saint

A weekly meme, hosted by Breaking the Spine,
spotlighting upcoming releases that are eagerly anticipated.

My Demon Saint
Shifting Reality, Book 2
Genre: Paranormal Romance
ISBN: 978-1-60928-248-6
Length: Novella
Publication Date: November 16, 2010
Blurb taken from Samhain Publishing

Would you like to play a game?

Saint is half human, half demon…all trouble. With his roommate Thomas mated to Margo, and Mac on one of those long, lonely, feeling-eternally-sorry-for-yourself vampire vacations, Saint is on his own and restless.

A lovesick shifter’s request to locate a woman isn’t exactly his idea of fun—he’s no matchmaker—but he agrees. And finds not only his quarry, but a whole lot more than he bargained for: a top player in his own online game that, until now, has somehow escaped his notice. A woman so tempting that when she touches the keyboard with her fingertips, he can feel it right down to his bones.

Housebound for the last few years due to an accident, Ume’s only distraction from the endless physical therapy sessions has been an online role-playing game. When she logs in this time, though, something is different. She finds herself lost in the game—literally—and falling for a mysterious warrior on her way to face the Demon King in his lair.

And that’s before it gets weird.

What are you waiting on?

"Here kitty, kitty. You know you wanna play."

Book one, My Shifter Showmance, was amazing! Thomas, Saint, and Mac are pure hilariousness and oh so sexy fun! My review can be found here and you can read more about it on Goodreads here.

Waiting On Wednesday:
Last Call by Olivia Brynn

A weekly meme, hosted by Breaking the Spine,
spotlighting upcoming releases that are eagerly anticipated.

Last Call
Coming soon from Liquid Silver Books
ISBN: 9781595787965

Eric Layton is used to being awakened by the phone. Firefighters are always on call.
When his phone rings in the middle of the night, he’s halfway to the door before he realizes that it isn’t his chief calling him in for an out of control fire. The woman on the other end, however, is a little out of control, and in fact a lot drunk. Before he can explain that he’s not her brother, her cell phone cuts out. His conscience won’t let him leave the woman waiting, but is he prepared for the chemistry that flares once the stranger climbs into his truck?

EXCERPT:

With the first shrill ring of his phone Eric was wide awake. He was used to interruptions, but he didn't have to like them. He swore, rolled over, searched in the dark for the ringing phone, and knocked both the latest bestseller and his watch to the carpet. He cursed again. Phone calls at—he checked the clock—two twenty in the morning could only mean a fire, and one that's bad enough to call in off duty firefighters. Why the hell did it always have to happen on his first night off?

The love to serve unselfishly whenever I am called.

He was out of bed before the third ring.

"Hello," he barked, hiking a pair of jeans over his hips and reaching for a shirt.

He expected a similar harsh response, but rather than his chief's gruff voice, he heard a feminine giggle. "You sound funny."

What the hell? Eric pulled the phone away to look at the readout. This wasn't his chief's number. It wasn't any number he recognized. Listening again to more giggles, and a whole lot of music in the background, he sat on the edge of the bed and tried again. "Hello?"

"Helloooo," the voice sang. "Your voice is weird. I guess I woke you up huh?" More giggles.

"Who is this?"

"Thiss iss your sisser…" More musical words. "Member how you said that what I needed was to get good and drunk? Well guess whaa-haat?"

Oh Jesus. A drunk. He didn't recognize the woman's voice, so his first impulse was to snap his phone shut. On the other hand, if it turned out to be someone he knew, he'd feel like shit for hanging up.

"Shh," she whispered. "Don't tell mom. I got a drunk on."

He smiled, adrenaline slowing, since he knew he wouldn't have to run into a burning building. "I won't tell."

She giggled. "You sound funny. Did you get a drunk on too? Oh my phone is blink-eting. Did you hear that? Was that your phone? Kevin I'm drink. Drunk. Keeev-in! I'm drunk. I gotta tell you something too. I went to The Ranger for drinks, and you said not to go by myself and I did anyway because I'm bad! I'm bad, Kevin. I'm a bad girl. Oh! You should see what I got…the bar had pens. For free! I got a blue one, and a pink one, and a…hey..." he heard rustling, and he imagined her digging through a purse. "Hey! Someone stole my yellow one! Kevin, someone stole my yellow pen!"

"It's okay." Eric tried not to laugh. "We'll get you another yellow—"

I have no idea when this book comes out, other than early 2011, but you can finish reading the excerpt here. And please leave a link back to your own WOW so I can return the love.

Travis Yardley-Rudiger deliberately stayed away from Jamie Grimm, desperate not to pull her into the petty little war of wills between himself and her grandfather, Oliver Grimm. Unfortunately the reemergence of Baldur and Loki and their claiming of Jamie’s sister Jordan put her squarely in Grimm’s sights. Her torture at Grimm’s hands ended with Travis determined to claim and protect the woman he’s loved for years, but how will she take the news that Travis is actually Tyr?

Jamie isn’t certain what’s going on, but one thing is certain: Travis’s stand-offish attitude has done an abrupt one-eighty. He’s even gone so far as to move with her into her sister’s condo while she convalesces. And when he reveals who, and what, he is, Jamie is left to wonder what the Norse God of Justice could possibly want with a crazy redhead with severe family issues?

As far as he’s concerned, it will be Travis’s pleasure to show her…

Waiting on Wednesday #1: Jimmy (Red, Hot, & Blue 3)

A weekly meme, hosted by Breaking the Spine,
spotlighting upcoming releases that are eagerly anticipated.

Jimmy
Red, Hot, & Blue #3
Samhain Publishing, Ltd
Publication Date: October 19, 2010
Genre: Contemporary Romance
ISBN: 978-1-60928-229-5
Length: Novella

Social butterfly and a soldier in the Special Forces—a match made in…bed.

Special Forces gave Jimmy Gordon the undercover skills of a chameleon, but nothing prepared him for Amelia Monroe-Carrington, the governor’s hot, redheaded daughter. She thought she was seducing a banquet waiter, and he let her.

His next assignment pulled him from her bed and into the worst six months of his life. Images of Lia were what kept him alive imprisoned in Kosovo, and even now he’s home and recovered, she’s still in his head.

For her father’s political career, Lia has always done the appropriate thing, right down to dating a senator’s son. Her one rebellious act, an incredible night with a totally inappropriate man, ended when he disappeared. And then never called.

When they unexpectedly meet again, the pull between them is stronger than ever, tempting Lia to stop sacrificing her own happiness for the family dynasty.

Contains incredible one-night-stand sex hot enough to withstand time, distance, and some really nasty terrorist torture.

*This book has been previously published and has been revised and expanded from its original release.

While book one, Trey, was incredibly good... book two, Jack, fell flat. It was devastating.

Finger crossed Jimmy will be anything but disappointing.
