This is a Free Amazon Kindle Read.

Meet Lawson. A cynical, wise-cracking vampire charged with protecting the Balance between vampires and humans, he is part cop, part spy, and part commando -- a James Bond with fangs. Lawson mixes shrewd cunning with unmatched lethality to get his job done. He tries his best to dismantle conspiracies, dispatch bad guys, and live long enough to get home.

This time, Lawson has been given an easy assignment, a “dead drop.” That is until an old enemy returns…

Lawson recollects his first Dead Drop, during his apprenticeship to Zero, when he first encountered The Silent One, a fellow vampire having way too much fun screwing with the powers that be.

I'm completely, utterly, and unarguably unfamiliar with this series so I can tell you as an outsider that as far as teasers go this bonus story packs one hell of a punch. If you like it at all, the abrupt ending will undoubtedly leave you craving more. I sure did. 5 out of 5 stars.

Update: I transferred this story to my husband's Ipad2 and he actually read it. And loved it enough to send me back to Amazon for The Kensei. Yays!
