Slow Hands

This is Maddy Turner's lucky day. The civilized society girl just bid on sexy rogue Jake Wallace at a charity bachelor auction—and won! But Maddy knows Jake's dirty little secret. And it should keep her from trying out her new boy toy. Too bad she can't stop herself from indulging in raw, quite uncivilized sex all the same….

Jake Wallace is utterly bewitched by Maddy— and utterly bewildered. How can this tantalizing woman melt so rapturously under his ministrations one moment, then turn into a haughty queen the next? He's determined to get to the bottom of Maddy's agenda. One slow, delicious inch at a time…

Madeline and Tabitha are the daughters of very wealthy, Jason Turner, who, being a romantic to his own detriment, is about to go through his fifth divorce. When Tabitha receives word that their current step-mother plans to cheat on their father with a guy she'll be buying from the next charity event- a bachelor auction- Tabitha convinces Madeline to buy up the guy herself.

Twenty-five thousand dollars gets Miss Maddy Turner a date with Number Nineteen, Jake Wallace, a man whom she believes to be a gigolo. Somewhere in there there was a mix-up.

Jake is about as perfect as a man can get in these books. From the very moment he spots Maddy from behind the auction's curtain, he's smitten. So much so that he calls upon his little sister's latest jabbering beliefs that if you want something bad enough, picture it hard enough, fate will let it happen.

I loved his response to Madeline. From first sight he was a man on a mission. He wanted Madeline. In a bad way. A very good, bad way. But being a good old, American home raised gentleman, it took a bit to get him to the point of, well this:

While reading this book, I couldn't see myself ever giving it more than 3 stars. It was good. The foreplay was very, very good. But my emotions weren't all that in gear with it. Until midway. Yeah. Midway, everything got emotional. Just when our Mr Perfect had the chance to fix everything, he doesn't. And okay, sure, it made sense that he wouldn't. Maddy didn't want a relationship. Didn't believe in love. Didn't need a boyfriend. But c'mon! The American gentleman turns to deceit.. No. No. No.

And yet he did make a miraculous recovery with me when he only made it thirteen days, (not the intended thirty) before he came clean. And there was no corner. No 'busted'. He just came clean because it was the right thing to do. Kudos in the end.

I had to give it a 5 star because it sent me through the ringer. I can't help it. I love the guys that know how to treat a woman. Jake was only male of three kids, and he was practically the middle child. He believed in all the good stuff.. honesty, loyalty, honor.

Maddy was as you say, a society chic, but she was also highly successful and laid back. She went crazy over a baseball game, alcohol, and some wings. Three of the best things in the world!
