Jake is about as perfect as a man can get in these books. From the very moment he spots Maddy from behind the auction's curtain, he's smitten. So much so that he calls upon his little sister's latest jabbering beliefs that if you want something bad enough, picture it hard enough, fate will let it happen.

I loved his response to Madeline. From first sight he was a man on a mission. He wanted Madeline. In a bad way. A very good, bad way. But being a good old, American home raised gentleman, it took a bit to get him to the point of, well this:






While reading this book, I couldn't see myself ever giving it more than 3 stars. It was good. The foreplay was very, very good. But my emotions weren't all that in gear with it. Until midway. Yeah. Midway, everything got emotional. Just when our Mr Perfect had the chance to fix everything, he doesn't. And okay, sure, it made sense that he wouldn't. Maddy didn't want a relationship. Didn't believe in love. Didn't need a boyfriend. But c'mon! The American gentleman turns to deceit.. No. No. No.

And yet he did make a miraculous recovery with me when he only made it thirteen days, (not the intended thirty) before he came clean. And there was no corner. No 'busted'. He just came clean because it was the right thing to do. Kudos in the end.
