Getting attacked by some crazed she-devil, complete with claws and fangs, certainly wasn't on Rebecca Yaeger's agenda when she agreed to attend a local masquerade. In a few slashing moments, Becky learns things about her friends and the man she loves that she never would have suspected.
When Simon rescues Becky from an unprovoked attack by one of his Pride, he finally confirms what he's long suspected: she's his mate. Carrying her off to his home and dressing her wounds gives him the chance he's been waiting for--to taste her and mark her as his. And she's far sweeter than anything, or anyone, he's ever had before.
Just as their problems seem a thing of the past, a strange illness begins to haunt Becky, threatening to turn their sweet dreams into a nightmare.
Well, when you get Max and Simon together with their women, the ooey-gooeyness is friggin stifling. Simon put it best...
“Do the terms ‘ick’, ‘yuck’, ‘ew’ or ‘gag’ mean anything to you?”
But nothing in my God given life prepared me for that damned apple.
“It’s smiling at me.”
“What’s smiling at you, baby?” He stopped at a red light and listened to her panting.
“The apple.”
“What?”
“I think it’s mad because I wanted to eat it.”
Her whisper was full of shaky fear. “Becky, where are you?”
“Behind the counter in the store.”
“Where’s the, um, apple?”
“In my kitchen. I can hear it hopping around up there.”
He was starting to get seriously worried. He sped through the intersection as soon as the light turned. “I’m on my way, baby.”
“Okay. Simon?”
“Yeah, baby?”
“Tell it I’m sorry and I promise not to eat it if it will go away. Okay?”
I want some of those chocolates! Seriously.
She turned her head to see his worried frown. She patted his cheek, not wanting him to be sad. How could he be sad on such a beautiful night? “It’s okay, Catman. Rainbows can’t hurt you.”
“Shit.” He pulled into the parking lot of the motel Sheri was currently staying in. Reaching over her, he pulled a packet of cookies out of the glove compartment. “Eat one, baby.”
She stared at the chocolate chip cookie he held out. It had rainbows playing across it. “Won’t I hurt the rainbows?”
“No, baby. You’ll take the rainbows inside, and they’ll become a part of you, and that will make them happy.”
Don't know what DMB is smoking, but it must be high dollar!
